Technical Overview

CONCEPT
Resource Central is
used for locating a meeting room, and reacting to changes in a
resource calendars.
The steps in scheduling a meeting are as follows:
-
A new appointment is made in Outlook. RoomFinder
is used to find a meeting room (resource). Whenever a resource is selected, the resource is added to Outlook
appointments list of attendees, setting the Outlook flag for
the attendee to resource
-
If an attendee is flagged as a resource within
the invitation, Outlook will automatically try to update the
resource calendar,
-
Whenever the resource calendar is updated, an
event is generated triggering the Resource Central Exchange
server integration. Information about the event is then posted
to the Resource Central web service.
-
Resource Central web service is handling the
event by either sending an e-mail confirmation including a
link to an order form or by updating an existing order.
